Mind of CHRIST
Mind of Christ
Pastor Don Patterson

This may be the most important message we will teach you, but it is up to you to receive it and apply it to your life. We will tell you over and over again that 90% of your deliverance is your understanding who GOD said you are and aligning your life with the word of GOD.

I am willing to say that in the church today 80 % of the Christians who attend church on a regular basis have never led anyone to the LORD or prayed for the sick. Every day someone within your reach needs prayer but we have listened to the lies of the enemy who has told us we are not good enough or smart enough to do GOD'S work. Stop listening to the enemy and hear the Truth of GOD'S Word.

What GOD Says About You!

Romans 8:12-17 NIV
12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation — but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God (condition). 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

JESUS said we were given a spirit of sonship and made co-heirs with JESUS and along with that comes all that heaven has to offer (blessings and protection). But first we must accept who we are and believe HE wants to have relationship with us as HIS sons and daughters. Somewhere along the line the church has come up with the idea that GOD hovers over us waiting to afflict us for every wrong move we make and that is so far from the truth. GOD stands in wait with all love and compassion waiting to pick us up when we fall; in most cases HE catches us before we fall.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Our Father's love is so great HE opened heaven at the cross so that we can fellowship with HIM and HE empowered us to reach the world one person at a time with the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven so that no one need be lost to the enemy.

John 14:8-21 NIV
8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." 9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father '? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

Even the disciples wanted to see the Father and we, out of our flesh nature, want to see something. We have more faith in our bank account or our doctor than we do our Father, GOD. GOD is SPIRIT and HE works in a Spiritual realm that not all of us can see into. It is by faith in GOD knowing that every word HE speaks is alive and the Word is able to do what it was sent to do.

What GOD Gave You!

GOD gave each of us an assignment; and it is our primary assignment in life. You may have the opinion that your job or your family is primary assignment but it’s not. We do have a responsibility to work and raise up our families, but that are just a part of our primary mission.

Mark 16:14-20 NIV
14 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. 15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." 19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

In verse 15 JESUS said go into all the world preaching the good news and verse 17 to 20 says that if we believe in JESUS’ name, we will cast out demons and heal the sick with the laying on of hands. I say to you that with so much as the spoken word of GOD we will see the sick healed and the lame walk.

JESUS never gave anyone an assignment without equipping them complete it. HE never asked anyone to do what HE hadn't already done and HE never asked anyone to pay a price HE hadn't already paid. JESUS illustrated the life we should live as Christians and set the example as a man, in the flesh, with a relationship with the Father, filled with the Holy Spirit. Just like us today!

Acts 1:1-9 NIV
1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." 6 So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." 9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

Look at verse 8, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; JESUS commissioned us to perform a work in HIS name and by the HOLY SPIRIT we are empowered to complete that task. It is no small ordeal. It is the second greatest miracle you will receive in your life, the first being your salvation.

 Acts 5:12-16 NIV
12 The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon's Colonnade. 13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. 15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.

We all believe in the word of GOD and in JESUS so why is it so hard to receive the fact that each of us is able to perform the same miracles that the apostles did? My question to you today is are you willing; willing to do the 90% GOD wants you to do or are you going to continue to walk in fear that you’re not good enough?

I want to impose a thought. How many people do you pass each day that your shadow falls upon and how many people do you shake hands with each day? The power of GOD in each of us that are baptized with the HOLY SPIRIT is great enough to heal the sick and drive out demons if we will only receive that revelation and release it.

John 14:12-14 NIV
12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

When we minister to a person either in deliverance or healing we are functioning in the Name of JESUS and the Word of GOD through the power received from the HOLY SPIRIT. My part is to allow the HOLY SPIRIT to use me and understand how to invoke the Word as HE gives it to me. Our part requires us to have relationship with the FATHER so that we are able to hear and see What the Father wants us to do. God will us use were ever we are but the enemy’s desire is to keep us out of relationship and seeking self rather than the Father

John 5:19-23 NIV
19 Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

Often we struggle with our busy lives and it seems GOD just gets what’s left, if anything, from our day when HE should be receiving the first part of our day giving HIM our first fruits and start our day seeking HIM. Do we not understand that not a day begins unless GOD creates it! The more we seek, the more we find HIM and the greater our ability to find HIM in the hidden places. I am willing to venture that not a day goes by that the FATHER doesn’t speak to each of us.

Somewhere along our life path we are going to have to let go of the reins and let GOD drive. I have ministered to many people that struggle with pride and can't let go of our control these people operate in fear not faith and do not trust GOD. GOD knows what’s best for us. GOD is interested in every aspect of our life, just like any good Father. It is either fear or flesh that stops us from moving in faith. GOD CAN DO ALL THINGS!

I ministered to several that have had trouble in their business dealings losing contracts or missing out on a contact that they felt should have been theirs. In one case I heard a scripture in Judges 20 which deals with the Israelites going into battle with Benjamin. GOD told them to go into battle and the first two times they were defeated but the third they prayed, fasted, and worshiped GOD before they went and GOD delivered Benjamin into their hands.

Prayer, worship and relationship release grace or favor into your life or situation. I heard Roland Baker give a message on relationship and the insight was that we spend too much time seeking signs, wonders, and miracles when they are a by-product of relationship with the FATHER and he is right. All the stuff we seek after in ministry even the ministry itself are a product of our relationship with GOD and our ability to touch heavenly places as sons of GOD.

Your Authority

au·thor·i·ty plural au·thor·i·ties
1 [noncount] : the power to give orders or make decisions : the power or right to direct or control someone or something ▪You don't have authority over me. [=you don't have the power to give me orders] ▪ The boss is not popular but his authority is unquestioned. ▪ “Who gave him the authority to do this?” “He didn't do it on his own authority [=he didn't do it on his own]; he was acting under the authority of the company president.” [=the company president gave him the power to do it] ▪ No one in authority objected to the plan. = No one in a position of authority objected to the plan. [=no one with official power to make important decisions objected to the plan] ▪ a figure of authority = an authority figure [=a person who has authority over other people] synonyms 1POWER
2 [noncount] a : the confident quality of someone who knows a lot about something or who is respected or obeyed by other people ▪ She has an air of authority. ▪ She spoke with authority [=authoritatively] about the history of the building.
b : a quality that makes something seem true or real ▪ His sincerity added much more authority [=credibility] to the story. ▪ Her southern accent lent authority to her performance. ▪ His opinions lacked authority.
3 authorities [plural] : people who have power to make decisions and enforce rules and laws
▪ We reported the incident to hospital authorities. ▪ Local authorities are investigating the accident.— often used with the ▪ He complained to the authorities [=the police] about the disturbance.

JESUS was given all authority (power) over heaven and earth and according to scripture it was given to us as son and heirs with JESUS once we receive the Baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT.

In our ministry we require you to call us or ask for an appointment. This is because when you ask us to minister to you, you have given us authority to work in your life on your behalf. The same is true when you come forward at church for prayer; you give authority for the Pastor or person ministering to release their anointing over you.
Example: your car is sitting in the parking lot and you need something down the street and you tell me take your car and you hand me the keys. When you give me the keys, I can now drive the car. I can be sitting in the driver’s seat but without the keys I can't drive it. So it is in life, we do not have authority to act in someone else's life until it is given to us. A father has authority over his children until they reach the age of accountability and know right from wrong you can minister in their lives; but after your children move out of your house, you no longer have authority over them. Does that mean we should quit praying for them, no! What it means is we need to change how we pray for them. Remember they have free will and GOD will not impose HIS will over them. Our children are not all seeking GOD as we would like for them to seek after God. We pray for them every day and our prayer is: FATHER, I ask that you would send the right person to our children to minister your word and your gospel to them. I ask that no harm would come on them and they would find favor in your eyes.

Matthew 28:16-20 NIV
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Luke 10:17-20 NIV
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name." 18 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

People see a person in authority as being arrogant when that is far from the truth. The responsibility that you assume over a church, a family, or someone you are ministering to does not allow you get wrapped up in emotion while you ministering and, at times, it comes across as arrogance. Often people in the church are offended by the Truth of the Word. I have heard people say I can't believe how arrogant he is standing up there telling me I have to do anything; just who does he think he is? The truth is when you go to a church, you come under the authority of the leadership of that church and because you are under that authority, you should come into agreement with the teachings and beliefs of that church.

When you become the person GOD says you are and stand firmly doing what GOD called you to do, you will see heavenly things begin to manifest in your life. GOD requires us to seek after HIM. A phrase that will propel you through life is “If we, then HE.” If we seek a relationship with GOD, HE will open heaven and you will begin see the Word of GOD manifest before your eyes. Often I am awed by what GOD has done and is still doing today. One day I heard in my spirit “why are you in awe, didn't I say I would do it?” Another day when the busyness of life had closed in on me and my personal time with the LORD was not where it should be I heard in my spirit “Son there are two ways you can do things, with ME or without ME!” I replied it is impossible for me to do what you have asked of me without YOU. Well as you can guess I changed my work around to restore my relationship with my Father.

GOD is waiting on you to surrender your will to HIS. HE doesn't want little JESUS robots. HE wants you like you are so you can influence all those within your reach for the kingdom of GOD.

Luke 7:1-10 NIV
1 When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. 2 There a centurion's servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. 3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, "This man deserves to have you do this, 5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue." 6 So Jesus went with them.
He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. 7 That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel." 10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

The centurion was a man that knew what authority was all about as he was a man in authority and he recognized the authority in JESUS and knew if HE just spoke the words his servant would be healed. I know the power and authority JESUS has and the living Word, I also know HE has given each of us that same power and authority over sickness and the enemy, but we have to use it. When have you laid hands on someone to allow JESUS to move/heal/restore their lives? We must stop operating in fear and work in faith. YOU are worthy because JESUS bought and paid for YOU.

Honor and Integrity

When we become Christians and begin to let people know we are Christians, the world puts us under a microscope and begins to judge our every move. We become ambassadors for the Kingdom of GOD, and we represent GOD here on earth. We may be the only example of GOD or the only bible a person will ever read, and most importantly, you may be that person’s only chance to receive salvation.

Remember the prayer example I used earlier? LORD put the right someone in the path of my children to minister your Word to them. You are that someone to somebody’s son or daughter; so when a door opens walk through with the gospel of the Kingdom. That is one reason it is so important to live a righteous life. So that when that time comes, the person you want to witness to doesn't say: aren't you the same guy the boss caught lying last week or I can see just how much of a Christian you are by the porn you look at or the bad language you use at work. Your life is your testimony.

I want to share a small event that happened to me years ago in church and has had a great impact on my life. I was sitting in a large church on Sunday morning. Brenda and I always got to church early to listen to the praise team practice it was a great time to bask in the glory of GOD, as church started and we entered into praise and worship the
LORD stirred in me. I began to look around and noted the time as there was a huge clock on the wall, church began about twenty minutes prior to this and I heard in my spirit these people you see coming in late dishonor ME as they spend more time preparing for work on Monday than they do entering into MY presence. Over the years that has been profound to me and I feel a need to share. How do we bring honor to the KING when we are callous about the little things in life such as paying our bills and being on time, fulfilling our promises to others? The world and the enemy are keeping record.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NIV
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

In closing I want to read this scripture that speaks to me about integrity and changing from the sin man to Ambassadors.

Ephesians 4:1-24 NIV
4:1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why it says:

"When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men."

9 (What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. 20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
